This is hitting very close to home for me and I have been sick over this for the past few days.
This is now on national news. As a summer-Vermonter, I am so sorry this has happened in a state that seems so serene and peaceful.

Did the killers know the victim? How did they ask her for help? It reminds me of the thrill killing case that happened in NH last year or the year before where those teens broke into a random home and brutally murdered a woman, and terrorized her child while her husband was out of town. No rhyme or reason for that, either. They just did it for kicks. While we have plenty of psychos out here in California, it seems like this type of "Natural Born Killers" scenario occurs frequently in rural, seemingly safe and serene areas.

They plowed her driveway all Winter, then said their vehicle broke down and they needed help. So I guess she trusted them, unfortunately.

I'm glad they found them but the whole story just makes me sick to my stomach.

agree with you on the NH case (town over from where I grew up). having attended Lyndon State, I'm sad for the area as it's a special place in my heart. The people are so welcoming and still friends almost 20 years after.

I'm tired of these pathetic folks taking out loving mothers leaving kids motherless (Mont Vernon, NH and this case).

I just went to the grocery and saw the paper headlines of "Night of Terror" and had to look away and the bf just came home from work and said he'd heard on the radio about opened condoms and wrappers at the perps' trailer and had to shut the radio off. It just gets worse and I feel so badly for her family that I had to come home and cry.

If there is ever a time to help out, I think that anyone who CAN and no matter what amount, donate to the Melissa Jenkins fund at Passumpsic Bank to help her son. That little boy knew enough to relay things to the cops. He will remember more later and not know why .......... My check is written to drop off on my way to work.
