Hi
I am looking to find out if there are local Deaf clubs, Deaf coffee chats, or interpreting services and organizations in the Burlington area? I know the school for the Deaf is in Brattleboro but am wondering about Burlington as well.
Are there interpreting services for the colleges? Any help would be appreciated.

They have one held at the Starbucks every third week.

Deaf Chat Coffee: Vermont (http://deafcoffee.com/html/vermont.html - broken link) (you may want to contact with Alex Grist for more info.)

UVM offers interpreting services through UVM ACCESS. My coworker is deaf and seems to have a great support network. Some people in my office have even started learning sign.

It's not unusual to have live performances, lectures, talks and so on signed from the stage in Burlington...

thanks guys, it is good to know where to go for access and community as well as to see live performances signed. I have done some interpreting in the past but need some refresher courses to get back into it. Also when (hopefully soon!) we move to VT I'll have to brush up on the local signs as these will be different than my home state (MD)
Goatwoodward-it is so great that some of your co-workers are learning sign... when a Deaf person is able to communicate with co-workers one on one it really makes everyone feel more at ease... And ASL is fairly easy (and fun!) to learn the basics of...after that it gets much harder! Esp the fingerspelling!

I'm from MD also and moving up closer to the rutland area....is there anything you know of around there? There aren't any Meet-ups or coffee chats that I see, is there anywhere else that I could connect with the Deaf community?
