Hello all,
I am driving from CT to New Hampshire and Vermont this weekend just for exploring the area/tourism. Anything you recommend? My agenda is to pass by Hanover, NH and Burlington, VT. Is Montpelier worth stopping over? I also do not mind hiking if there are any must-visit national parks...

Thanks

Well, there are no national parks in Vt/NH although the Billings Farm in Woodstock in part of the National Park system. I think Montpelier is worth a stop, the Vermont Statehouse and Museum is nice. Small vibrant city to walk around in, lots of good eats for a meal.

Avoid the interstates, when possible, you'll see alot more. One big thing you will miss is the White Mountains of NH. Check on the internet Mt Washington and North Conway.

Between Montpelier and Burlington you pass by the original Ben&Jerry factory which is now basically a B&J theme park. There is a fun short tour. I don't think the factory is in production on the weekends but you still get some free ice cream if you do the tour.

If your into wine or cheese several award winning wineries and cheesemakers in the area. Cabot is pretty close to Montpelier.

That sounds great! Thanks. I think I might leave White Mountains for another trip, the hike up Mt Washington seems very interesting and challenging!

Depending on your route and interests, you might want to take a side trip that is south of Hanover by about 15 miles to St. Gaudens National Historic Site:

You could then cross the long covered bridge from Cornish, NH to Windsor, VT and visit the American Precision Museum:
