For my fellow Vermonters, how is the foliage coming along in your neck of the woods?
Still pretty green here in the immediate Champlain Valley. Saw some pictures an aunt took in the Lyndonville area a couple days ago and that area looks to be near peak.
Where should I go Sunday for a nice leaf peeping drive?!

It's not what I would call peak yet in the NEK, but very close. I traveled through Hazen's Notch on Sunday and there was a considerable difference between the Montgomery side and Lowell. Lowell had many bright colors. Montgomery was just getting started. By this weekend it should be really nice on the eastern side of the mountains. The sugar maples at my home in North Troy have only spotty color so far.

I'm planning a trip to Brattleboro next weekend (first weekend in Octoberl). I hope I'll see some nice foliage.

As of today the leaves are turning pretty good, but I suspect because of the very dry weather the leaf drop has been increasing. Tonight we are supposed to have pretty heavy rain so that will probably accelerate the leaf drop. Last week I was down in the Manchester area and took forest service rd 71 down to rte 9 and the foliage was really starting to look great in spots. By next week it should be great even down in the lower areas.

Still lots of green and yes, the leaves are falling a lot...dry leaves..like flu said. We went walking on Sunday and saw some changing but not too dramatic yet.

I'm seeing more vibrant red this year. Has anyone else noticed that? A few weeks ago I thought the colors were looking muted, maroonish instead of red.
But I'm noticing brighter colors now.

I was just in New Hampshire for several days and the colors there are great, but heading into Vermont I noticed there is more leaf drop and not nearly as much color. I'm wondering if this strange warm weather we are having is causing this. I noticed that the White Mountains didn't get as warm as it has been here in Vermont.

I'm coming up in mid-October...I'm guessing the Lamoille county will be past peak by then, but at least the drive up should be nice!!!
