This may not be of any help at all, but recently The Lost Nation Theater in Montpelier did a show called "Stone" which was about barre granite workers, the play was for entertainment, but chiefly it was about the history, and I think a lot of studying went into the subject. You could probably contact Lost Nation and see if they may have had contacts or sources that you would find useful.

If you knew what kind of quarry it was, we'd have a better idea where to send you. Granite, Marble, Slate. There are clusters of all 3 in Vermont.

Thank you. This must have been a very interesting play. I will research this today. I appreciate your direction. I will not give up on William.

Thank you. WE were told it was granite.
Are you able to tell me where the granite cluster area is?
Thank you for the response and advice.

Granite

The Vermont Historical Center in Barre is fairly new, used to be the old Spaulding HS. From what I understand they are in the process of collecting and transferring artifacts and data from all around the state and the Vermont Historical Society in Montpelier. That might be another place to check.
