Mud season is fun if you have 4 wheel drive and some ground clearance on your vehicle.

Great to hear that you've enjoyed it so far. I moved to the Burlington area back in Feb and have absolutely loved it here so far. Can definitively see myself here for the long term.

Thanks everyone. Another small update - we now have an apartment, it's in Milton and we love it. So we're out in the country but close enough to the city(burlington). Still loving it...

Not knowing the circumstances that brought you to VT, but did you not know that winter is a major season there? There are people who do enjoy the winter with all that is has to offer. I, for one, could be happy in Spitsbergen, if I had the chance.

Everyone is wired a little differently. My wife and I enjoy our winters in the NEK despite no longer being skiers. There are a few inconvenient days with storms and ice, but the cold has never bothered us. I find more useless days in summer, frankly. The muggy, dead-air weather that takes the wind out of my sails could easily be traded for a nice -30 morning and an extra cup of coffee as far as I'm concerned.

My question to you ATLAW is: Why do you keep reading stuff on the Vermont forum if you're happy in Arizona? Arizona, really? Where it's 110 right now, dusty, surrouded with nice conservative people, and water shortage and drought coming to outside a theater near you?

Yeah, I'll take the winter over nice days...till it rains, and then you can do nothing outside. At least there shouldn't be much rain in the next week...

Anyway, been a month now...still liking it...and still don't think everything is outrageously expensive(except for rent...)...

Because I spent many years there and have a lot of friends there still. Arizona is huge, my county is the size of Massachusetts! It has desert, mountains and all the in between. I'm near Tucson, it's not 110(altho sometimes it is for an afternoon or so). I love the conservative values -which is what Vt. used to be when I moved there in '74 and we have plenty of water even though it is an issue to keep track of. Imagine sun 350 days a year! I still visit Vt. but only in the summer!

Throw on some rain pants, jacket, and boots and you won't even know it's raining.
