Got the job, now it's time to get real, destination St. Johnsbury!

Because I am doing this all by myself, incl. relo, I would be highly appreciative of some pointers. I moved before, but each time, it was with a husband, whose employer provided an apartment at the site of action, while I stayed behind selling the home. Cost of relo was covered by the employer, incl the apartment. I don't have this luxury now. We are talking about a timeframe of six to eight weeks at the most.

Here are my questions for the team....

1. Good realtor in the area who is willing to show me rentals, for now. Do they rent out furnished apartments? I contacted a major group in the area, but never heard back. I would even be willing to reside in NH for the time being, seeing that I'll do my job training in Lebanon.

2. Ease of getting contractors in VT: how hard is it to get a trade person in this area? This is something I would like to keep in mind when it's time for me to buy my home up there.

3. Anything else I need to consider, that would fall out of the usual relocation woes? I will be in the area this upcoming weekend, and cover as much ground as I possibly can.

Thanks!!

Rent for one year. It gives time to adjust (or not) as well as scope out options without a deadline.

I don't think realtors deal with apartment rentals in that area. You'll be dealing directly with landlords.
The Caledonian Record is the local paper. I'd look in the classifieds there.

I know a few quality contractors in the area depending on what you need.....General Contractor is one of my best frends along with an outstanding mason, electrician and plumber......the more I think about it, I don't think I'm missing any trade in my group of friends :-)

Thank you both, vter, and logs and dogs! Greatly appreciate the feedback. I have also been looking on the NH side for a temporary apartment, and things seem a bit more affordable there, but who really knows. It's the internet. Checked out CL as well.

Also check the Caledonian Record (St Johnsbury newspaper). Other tips, be prepared to do at least a portion of your shopping over in Littleton, NH. No real big box department stores in the St Johnsbury area.

Thanks, Dan. I'm also looking at places over in Littleton. The housing market is very different up there, but I'm hopeful.

As for the shopping bit, I'm not too concerned. I hate it. My department stores are amazon and eBay.
