Can anybody give me a ballpark cost of a full mouth deep cleaning and scaling? Does $1400 sound excessive?
Thanks

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that you get a second professional exam and opinion anyway.

I had one dentist who accepted a cheap dental plan and had a brutal hygienist inform me that I was in serious need of a "deep cleaning" below the gum line. I figured his incompetent hygienist had already made my mouth bleed a pint of blood anyway and blew it off as a way he was trying to increase his income. When I later went to a quality dentist, he didn't even mention the idea.

The reason I'm not suggesting you blow it off completely is that there are some people who actually do need the procedure or even adjustment of the gum line, often due to medications like dilantin. All I am saying is don't trust anyone who wants to sell you something that is very expensive and something you don't already know about.

It sounds expensive to me.

My wife just went and spend an hour with the hygienist and dentist for like 300 bucks.

Sounds way over the top. When I first moved here the dentist suggested I needed the full works but I went to another office and forgot that. A regular cleaning for me is $80.
