I know our old town would put trees under the lines, but for some reason on the opposite side of the street they wouldn't--maybe coincidence or maybe not.

Many of the houses and trees in my neighborhood predate the utility poles by decades, but that doesn't mean some homeowners aren't responsible for poor siting. My neighborhood isn't a planned development, no tree-lined sidewalks, no curbs. The roadside looks more like a woodsy Vermont road.
