Hi everybody,
I am interested in camping with small children in the Quechee Gorge area. How is the campground in the state park? Are there other good places to camp in the area? Thanks

The park in Quechee looks nice, but I have never camped there. It's certainly close to the gorge, a few small attractions nearby and Billings Farm. A bit further away is Mount Ascutney state park:

That is a very nice park to camp in and not too far from the gorge. I have camped at Silver Lake in Barnard, more of a hike but you have the lake and it isn't too terrible a drive from Quechee:

Have fun!

There's a KOA in Quechee. It's not my ideal camping experience but if you have kids and a wife they sure seem to like the clean bathrooms and playground!

Quechee state park is very good, and you can paddle up to the foot of the gorge, maybe a two-mile trip. Enjoyable!

Thanks! How accessible is the bottom of the gorge on foot?

Yes there is a path down to the gorge. Another nice place to bring the family is the North Hartland Dam. There is a nice swimming area, picnic grounds, hiking trails and a boat launch. If you have kayaks or a canoe, you can go all the way down the river to the gorge.

Its a short drive from the gorge.

The wife and I stayed at this particular KOA. It is really nice and the staff/owners are really friendly.

Bathrooms are def. top notch.

One last thing - we stayed in the cabins and they appeared to be brand new when we went in 2012. We would go back again.
