My family (wife, daughters 6 and 4) and I are planning a trip to Stowe and have heard good things from friends about the Stoweflake Mountain Resort. Was wondering if anyone here knows the various resort options well in Stowe and how Stoweflake might compare versus the others?

Thanks!

What are you looking for specifically (amenities, price, etc), and what time of year are you planning on visiting?

Looking at the foilage season. There are a few spa resorts to choose from, we'd be using that and also care about cleanliness and quality of restaurants.

I'd definitely take a look at Top Notch, which for me, is a step above Stoweflake. When Stoweflake renovated years ago, they were really nice, but I've eaten at Charlie B's several times and had friends/family go to the spa and I personally think Top Notch is a nicer place (I've never had anyone I know stay there, but I know someone who used the spa and we eat the Roost quite often, and the food and atmosphere is great). I don't think Stoweflake is bad by any means, but for my money, I'd stay at Top Notch.

Top Notch did a huge renovation two years ago, not sure if rooms were also updated but I'm sure there are photos/reviews/etc online.

Obviously Stowe Mountain Lodge is an option as well, and if you can afford it, it's worth looking into. Very different vibe, and you are far removed from town and all the activities during foliage, but if you are into that sort of property and it's amenities, you'd probably be very happy there.

I stayed at the Trapp Family Lodge a few years back. It was nice but I don't know how it compares to the other resorts mentioned.

Just wanted to say that I love the juxtaposition of your username and the Trapp Family Lodge.
