My friends and i are looking to camp in vermont within the the next two months. How is the Granville reservation state forest in terms of safety, accessibility, and how popular is it? And i saw that you can camp near the warren falls. how is this spot? Thanks a lot.

Am not sure on the Granville Gulf Reservation lands right off VT 100, but the Green Mountain National Forest lands do have what is referred to as primitive and dispersed camping allowed, primarily off of the series of Forest Service Roads. Right from Granville USFS Road 55 goes west for many miles with spurs on old logging roads. Best bet would be to contact the USFS for info and maps. They have a district office with a visitor center on Rte 100 south of Granville on Rte 100. The GMNF North District covers land north of US Rte 4 to Mt Ellen and there are great spots for camping and exploring on both the east and west side of the range.

In the middle of Granville Gulf on Rt 100 there is a sign for a NF campsite, nice spot but no facilties. Assume it's the same spot Flu mentions. The spot at Warren Falls also offers good camping but can be a busy place due to the popularity of the falls but if you like swimming it's awesome.

Well, both the AT and the LT cut thru the Killington area. Certainly off the beaten path but no facilities. There is also Coolidge State Park southeast of Killington.

There is a primitive camping area call Chittenden Brook west of Pittsfield in GMNF.
