I have searched online for ISPs who provide high speed internet access for Grand Isle and apart from the overpriced HughesNet, there is nothing, no Comcast, Verizon, Earthlink, nothing.
Does anyone have internet access from any other provider? It doesn't have to be cable but it does need to be fast.
There is wireless internet access in Grand Isle but not cable or dsl. I used Soundtivity when I briefly lived in South Hero but its only available in certain areas and the speed was not very good and often the connection would go down. You can call them and they will come out and do a site survey to determine if you can get a good signal. I believe I paid 50 a month for the service and 150 for them to install the needed equipment.
I went to check and it appears that Soundtivity's website is no longer up. Perhaps they went under as they had to use a grant from the State to get their service rolling and they had horrible customer service. I did come across another provider so maybe try them instead.
Hi there,
We live in Grand Isle and use Fairpoint. It's both our phone and our DSL provider. Hope that helps.
