Bring a sweater, morning temps in the high 30's lately. Trees are changing (top of the upper valley). Bet it's still summer hot in NY. Was talking to farmer yesterday who keeps track June and July had 16 days without rain.

Actually, this has been one of the coolest Augusts here in NYC that I can remember...and I LOVE IT. 58 degrees this morning. Aaaahhhhhh....I'm sure it'll jump back to 98 next week sometime.

Me, too! I have been sooooo comfortable, happy, and energized in the cool, dry weather. :-)

2 words with regard to the OP: (REAL) winter tires (NOT all seasons)

You will not regret the investment.

Hi. I'm the OP. Thanks for the advice.

I will get real winter tires when I come up, even if I'm still driving my little FWD Nissan Sentra.

I drove home from work after some snow one day this winter. I had all season tires and it was all I could do to control my car. I think the roads were especially slippery that afternoon, and I was surprised at how slick the roads were. Whatever, I was not a happy camper driving home and I felt very relieved when I got there.

I do not plan to mess with Vermont winters!

when are you moving? You said at the begining of this thread late August/early Sept. Have you pushed it back a bit?

Provbably mid-September. Buyers got mortgage commitment a little later than expected.

Closing date has not been scheduled. I could probably close in a week now, but I need time to pack. I didn't want to pack until I knew they had their commitment.

Right now I'm still trying to get rid of stuff.

Also, the mover I think I will use can't come until Sept 16.

Good luck. If it doesn't work out leave before you are sucked dry.

Closed today. It came fast, after some time of hearing nothing.

The Brooklyn house is sold!

I am staying in the house for up to two weeks to pack. I'd rather have closed next week or the week after, but we decided to do it today rather than risk having something happen with the sale.

So I'll be up in Vermont before the end of the month!
