The Mayor of Rutland when all this occurred wrote a piece about this that ran on Vermonttiger- I'm guessing 6 months to a year ago. Funny the piece was written because of new gang activity but the linked article implies there isn't any. The Mayor's article was better unfortunetly I don't think Vermonttiger has an internal search engine. There was an English comedy skit that had two Amsterdam policemen talking and saying something to the effect of 'we had a problem with burgalry so we legalised it' VT's law enforcement/courts resemble that attitude.

Good article, Mark. Congratulations to the Rutland PD for recognizing a serious problem and having the initiative to do something about it.

Just curious: Why are you reading the Sun Chronicle? I read that paper daily for about 5 years when I lived in Attleboro.

The drug dealers are still very much present in Rutland, gang members too from what I've heard and seen. Rutland's police unit devoted to dealing with the drugs is falling apart rom internal division, one of the main officers/investigators left the unit, others are complaining about administration. Who knows what's really going on right now.
