No fluid any car uses is any good for the great outdoors as far as I can tell.
I believe most washer fluid contains the same basic chemicals. It seems that the buying public has not put enough pressure on manufactures for eco-friendly washer fluid.

I'm not talking about me, remember, I don't use the stuff plus it's not the jets I'm referring to but the wipers. Some people spray it on pretty thick so the wipers do throw it. I just try to avoid using nasty stuff if I don't have too. My defroster solves the problem you describe just fine.

Yup, washer fluid does contain bad stuff like antifreeze but you have no choice there. Frozen fluid doesn't work at all. Your right, eco-friendly stuff that works well is awesome but there has to has to be some common sense mixed into the picture too.
