Rutland's Red Cross blood drive today is set to break another record...1000 pints in one day. For a city the size of Rutland to have so many donors is amazing and shows what a great community Rutland is. It's the biggest in New England and one of the biggest in the nation based on population size.

Just grand: Rutland Herald Online

"Not long after 9 p.m. came the news – the final tally was exactly 1,000 pints. The room erupted in cheers and bear hugs."

This is good to see. As a biweekly platelet pheresis donor I am a big supporter of the ARC. Without these donors our sickest patients would have hard time surviving.

I am a platelet donor too!! How long does it take on the table for you to donate a double? It takes me 115 minutes. Wish I could be faster.

I now do a triple and it takes me about 90 min. I feel like a guinea pig sometimes. I also am also a bone marrow donor on top of other things. I work in healthcare in a critical care environment and often times we look at the great things we do as just work, but when you sit back and look at all of the things we and others like you do for people, you really can't help but appreciate the difference you can make in someones life. In many cases it is a difference in life or death. A big thumbs up for all who donate.
