I have read some "not nice" things about staunton......I have been looking to relocate to VA and have been to Staunton several times. I have met many people my age, my background, etc etc. while i can see that it is more of a conservative city, I have not encoutered the "intolerance" that many have talked about on other threads. In the two times i have been there, i have made friends who have kept in contact with me here in NY. how about some objective input about the city. it is quite beautiful there, affordable, and seems to be moving in an upward direction. what about work in the surrounding areas. can anyone tell me if there are teaching jobs out there? i also have a 21 yr old son who would need to work if he came with me. he does plumbing work. any input on jobs in that field would be greatly appreciated. all in all, it seems like a nice city. i know that people claim there is a meth problem there, but this seems to be a problem EVERYWHERE these days. is it worse in Staunton than anywhere else. i have come to find in my searches that THERE IS NO PARADISE that is going to insulate anyone from drugs and crime. staunton seems to have a relatively low crime rate. remember, it IS a city........despite it being a small one. okay, lots of questions, how about some objective input from the residents there..
thanks

Sadly drugs are in every corner of the world, big and small. I personally would prefer a smaller town than a larger one, less crime.
