OK, so I am a University grad from central NY and am looking for a warmer climate and job scene. Assuming I don't know anything about VA besides the two facts its not land locked and its capital is Richmond, what do those wiser than I (you people) suggest for places to look for real estate based on:
- moving from a close suburb of Syracuse, NY (small urban city)
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics (so should be close to cities or financial hubs)
- looking for a suburb, close enough (20 min) to city center
- will probably rent first unless i find an incredible deal
- right now am working as Salesman for Lexus vehicles until I find my career job (in actuary/finance)
- not married yet, but will be starting a family in 5 years or so (public schooling)
- looking for urban excitement, close to trendy restaurants/bars, but still in a suburb
If any other information I can provide will help please ask. All suggestions are greatly appreciated!!! - Nick

IMHO go for a masters in Physics or Engineering then look on the West coast for a career. For your current credentials you can look into Capital One, but be strongly advised that they are terrible employer. Wappingers Falls is probably more exciting than VA.

Sounds to me like the northern VA areas outside of DC such as Arlington would match up to what you are looking for.
