Hey there! I was just looking for some info on Accomack County! I got a call to interview at the schools out there and was trying to get more info on the area and what it's like to live out there.
I could find virtually NO apartments for rent anywhere in the county through online searches!
Any info on places/areas to live would be great. At this point I am interested in only apartments/condos.
I am 27, single and grew up in a small (but rapidly growing) community outside Chicago. I like the small town quality with location to big cities...would Accomack work for me?
What about the schools? Good? Bad?
Any other info would be GREATLY appreciated!

Good schools in Chincoteaque Island, not sure of the rest.VERY country,small towns all over.Very rural.Closest big city.

Still some affordable housing off the Island.On Island will be pricey.We could find you a reasonable room to rent.Lots of seafood,people are nice.Let me know if I can help.

Very rural, flat terrain, full of chicken and vegetable farms, very hot in summer, although ocean breezes bring relief. Chincoteague Island is a quiet resort town, famous for the wild ponies and annual "pony auction". Assateague National Seashore is a quiet, popular place for camping (although often plagued by mosquitos). Wallops Island government space facility is also in Accomac. The closest shopping Mall and University to Accomac County, are in the city of Salisbury, Maryland to the north - the large resort city of Ocean City, Maryland is also about an hour away. The metropolitan Virginia Beach/ Norfolk area (over a million population, including several military bases) is a couple of hours to the south, across a very long, bridge-tunnel with a toll-charge.
