My family and I are considering relocating to Winchester. I am an RN and looking at Winchester Med. I have overy 10yrs exp. My husband is a homeschool dad of our 6 kids. We don't have to worry about schools.
Would like any info on Winchester Med, pay, benefits, anything an RN might want to know.
Would also like info on good places to live. Looking for house with acreage. My husband would like to start a gentleman's farm, gardens, some animals like chickens, goats, etc.
Any information would be wonderful!

Winchester is a great small city with a well-preserved Historic District and downtown. I can't really give you any information about the Medical Center except that it is the main medical facility for the northern Shenandoah Valley and parts of West Virginia.

The surrounding county of Frederick has lots of open space to find rural farmettes. Since you don't care about schools, you could easily look in WV for even less expensive areas. I'd suggest you use the search feature to read through some of the threads -- including a great picture tour of Winchester.

Then when you have specific questions about areas, re-post in the Northern Virginia forum rather than the general Virginia one. It's also helpful to give a price range and how much acreage so people have a better idea of where to suggest. Winchester is outside of the Washington DC area but because of Virginia's schools and university system, it's still relatively expensive compared to WV.

Good luck.

You will like it. There is a large homeschool support network, WMC is good to go, and real estate has probably gotten back on the good side of crazy. Look out toward Round Hill or Gainesboro for a few acres.

Electron - Can you give me any info on Round Hill, Purcellville, Warrenton or Gainesville? We are trying to find someplace inexpensive to rent (not buy), such as Winchester/Stephens City, but closer to Dulles, where my hubby will be working, so we don't have to make such a long commute. We are moving from out of state, so we don't have availability to come out and look around prior to our move.

Thank you in advance!
