I have been surfing the web on houses in Lynchburg and the surrounding areas but all I am finding is mobile homes in our price range of 100K - 125K. We are looking to purchase a nice clean, redone brick, stucco, craftman style or stick built home?. On some land, with a 2 car garage. Are we looking for the impossible here? Why are there SOOO many mobile homes in this area? Are the wells (water) dried up, is it bad water, what on earth would make so may people want to sell in the country areas?

We are having a similar problem... we are looking for a 5 or 6 bedroom house, preferably modern with a 2 car garage with a minimum of 5 acres and are willing to pay no more than $700,000.00. The only thing we can find are 4 bedroom houses. Where do all the people live who have kids an need at least 5 bedrooms? We want to be 5 min from the heart of Lynchburg or in Concord.

it's pretty hard to be 5 minutes from downtown L and get 5 acres. Many of the nicer homes in the country are to the west and southwest in Bedford County about 20 minutes out from downtown. I'm sure you could find something there at that price. There's a great old house for sale on Peakland Place (one of the nicest streets in town and best schools) with over an acre for 699900

It took a while, about 3-5 months of searching, but I was able to come across a 3 BR, 1/2 bath ranch on 10 acres with a private 2 acre pond(shared) and a barn in Amherst County for 133k. There are an abundance of mobile homes in this area, especially if you're looking for 5+ acres - you just gotta weed them out. The 2 car garage may be asking a little much, and you may have to sacrifice there. My neighbors houses sold recently which are similar to mine, both in new comdition @ 159K and 163K.
