We're just awesome, and that's always worth mentioning!

And I lived several years apiece in both cities, so I know what I'm talking about.

Exactly. New Englanders crack me up even moreso than New Yorkers...atleast you can kinda see why New Yorkers loudmouth arrogant chumps...but the New Englanders?SMH.

As far as who is "more mid-atlantic" ....they both are actually because that was the movement in the late 80s early 90s. The only difference is the folks up Richmond have more history(realations) with Washingtonians and we (757) have more relations with (Philly NY..etc). We are both mid atlantic though if you lived here before 2000 then it would be easier to tell.

I've lived in both cities.

Richmond - MUCH better job opportunities (unless you are a military contractor) as there is a diversified economy
- salaries are higher for equivalent jobs
- much less traffic; the roads can handle the volume that they need to; not needing tunnels is an advantage
- lower housing costs for comparable areas
- more young professionals and a bigger creative class
- better nightlife in my opinion
- more historic neighborhoods
- DC is closer

Norfolk - closer to local beaches and to the Outer Banks
- Job opportunities good if you are affiliated with the military or federal government

Unless you love the water or want to work for the DoD, I'd vote for Richmond.

Richmond reminds me of a miniature Cincinnati. So there's that for what it's worth.

Norfolk, IDK. To be honest in my opinion all of Hampton Roads is a suburb.
