I am looking for a nice place to vacation late August with my husband, our 2 month old- who's arrival we are waiting on and my parents. We LOVE Ocracoke island but I think that the sun will be too much as we anticipate our baby being extremely fair and we can't use sunscreen until he's 6 months old so regular beaches are out.

We looked into Smith Mountain Lake at Bernard's Landing but have to rent it through homeaway and have had no luck yet!

We love the mountains, lakes, nice views, long walks, pools and kayaking. And some light hikes where I could baby wear. We don't own a boat and we wouldn't rent a motor boat...I was thinking some sort of resort where we don't have to drive and can still make our own meals if we want to and can sit outside on a nice patio, drink coffee while the baby nurses in the morning and enjoy the outdoors and each other's company.

We would like to keep it at about $200-225 a night for 2 bedrooms and are open to family camps. We would like to keep it within 3-4 hours of harrisonburg. Family camps are cool with us

Ideas??

How about Wintergreen Resort?
There's plenty to do in the summer. It has Lake Monocan, which I realize is not huge, but it's still a lake.
