Just wondering if any of you have tried the grocery delivery services that are offered around here (Northern VA). My wife and I are always strapped for time so we decided try it and are hooked. What normally takes a few hours took just a few minutes. It was actually much easier to compare prices too. If you haven't tried it, give it a shot.

I'm intrigued- my wife hates going out for groceries. Could you post or PM me some web addresses of grocery delivery services you have used?

I didn't say I was too busy, I said that we are strapped for time...we have a 4year old son and a 3 year old daughter. Slowing down with them is not an option. Besides that, the more time we all get to spend as a family, the better.

Amen, grocery shopping means my wife loading/unloading my 19-month-old and 3-month old, dealing with the traffic, etc.
If you pay someone to change your oil, are you too busy? Or do you just not want to deal with it?

Find the website for a grocery chain you like. Giant Food used to offer home delivery, called Peapod, and may still do.

I can't remember if it was the Washington Post or the Washintonian (I believe it was the latter) that did a comparison of all the local grocery delivery services. Some rated better than others.

Truthfully, I think it would probably be cheaper in the long run. I can't tell you how much impulse buying I end up doing in the grocery store in effort to keep my toddler quiet! Ugh.

What kind of groceries are you buying? Boxes of unhealthy pre-fabricated food? When I go grocery shopping I load the basket full of vegetables, fruits, and fresh meats. I want to be able to look at the texture, the smell, and the quality of what I buy before I buy it. I don't want unripe tomatoes, or overripe bananas, or ground beef that is close to the expiration date. I want to individually check my carton of eggs to make sure they all look good.

Everything we bought was great. Nothing was rotten or anywhere close to being expired. In fact, everything we bought was exactly what we would have picked up had we gone to the store ourselves. I'm sure there is someone who can speak to a bad experience, but I seriously doubt that any of these grocery stores are in the business of delivering bad food. The store we ordered from also has a guarantee that refunds your money or brings you another item if you are unhappy.
