Hello,

My husband and I are thinking of buying a house at Fawn Lake in Spotsylvania as he can work from home and only needs to go to DC office once or twice a month. We’re going back the second time to look around and talk to the sales rep. Been looking for a future retirement home and found a plan we like for first floor living. Was looking at a few places in the area and Maryland. From the research we think we should save more money living in VA for a retirement. The weather is not as hot as Florida. We’re currently living in NJ and hubby is from NY.

I’m wondering if we’re making the right decision. Heard so much about people there not loving the northerners. It might be hard to make friends. My husband is very easy going and loves making new friends while I’m more private and will be ok without social life. We’re also a bi racial couple (white and Asian). Our current neighborhood is very nice and got very low crime. We know we can’t get that new construction anywhere in this area for the same price.

Please feel free to post any thoughts you got. Thanks!

"Heard?" Not sure what you've heard and I would pretty much disregard pretty much all of it. VA has become such a mixed bag of folks from not only around the US but from also around the world. If you get along with folks where you live now then you'll get along with folks there.
