Anyone have the inside scoop on this area and vincity? Is it safe? I am assuming it is, but is it decent? I don't care bout malls. I would like a Barnes and Noble and a decent grocery store and lots of places to hike and I heard that housing is very affordable, that you can actually buy a nice home for like 200 grand, is this true? Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated!

Looking - where is Pigeon Ford? Pigeon FORGE is in Tn, since you are on the Va forum are you sure you mean to be? What happened to the "midlothian" area youi were considering? Or SC you were asking about? Both also nice areas. If you do mean Pigeon Forge it is outside the Great Smoky Mountains national park Cades Cove area - home to Dollywood - has seen a huge increase in pop in the last 10 years or so. If you wanted to stay in this general area what about gloucester county towards mathews - or rural smithfield? Both beautiful.

The job in SC was not what we thought it was, mistake by a headhunter and the one in Midlothian was a supposed transfer that we changed our minds on...I will get back to you later on Pigeon Forge, as I do believe there is one in Va as well, but not sure. Thanks so much for your help!!!

OH no we don't like the hurricanes here, we lived through one and never want that experience again! Glouester is not an area we could be happy in, just won't want to cross that bridge all the time! Same problem with the ferry in Smithfield, hubby would not appreciate the commute for numerous reasons as well.
