That's a pretty area. I am also a relocated Floridian, I've beenl in NC for almost 1 yr and am anxious to leave. My parents live right outside of Richmond, and I have a brother in Richmond who works for VCU. There are some really great schools in that area. I hope you get more responses, I'm curious myself.

Hi Marci! Let's see, I do not know much about Prince William, but quite a bit on Stafford, King George and Spotsylvania. What are you looking for as far as where you live - rural with some land (if so how much), or more along the lines of a planned subdivision with amenities. That would probably give us all an idea of where to steer you. Another big factor will be what price range you are looking for. You will find that the further south you go, the more house you get for the money. Also, the (real estate) tax rate is less further south.

I am looking for a 4 bedroom with a basement. Has to be pretty new or at least NO PETS, as our son is severely allergic to dogs and cats and COULD not live there. apparently, as far south as we can go is stafford/spotslyvania line. nothing with a lot of land. but we need to sell our house down here in florida too. looking for relocation help.

not really sure on the price, have to sell my house in Florida first. But it seems between 350-400K, which is a lot compared to Florida, but there is no comparison to the locations. you know? we just have to be no more than 30 minutes from the hospital, with good schools and a lot of house for a lot of money.

Marci - Is the 30 minutes figure set in stone? If so, that will probably rule out Spotsylvania. I just did a search of homes in Stafford and there are many out there, even new construction. You can get a great deal on any spec houses the builder has because they are looking to unload their inventory. You can go about your search two ways, research the schools and then pick a home based on the school district (however I will warn you that they are often redistricted), or pick a couple of subdivisions and then see what schools are in the area. Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions!
