Upper Marlboro residents are fighting a proposed cell phone tower plan. I know I would fight one being placed near my home. Are you opposed to cell phone towers near residential communities?

NIMBY syndrome..sorry

If you want better coverage...what's wrong with the tower near you? They can always make it looks natural...

Potential adverse health effects, thats whats wrong. How many of you would be welcoming of an eyesore placed in your backyard that could increase your risk of cancer threefold? I didnt think so. This article made no mention of the residents of Upper Marlboro OR that particular community demanding better coverage anymore than anyone else.

A perfect example of how, for certain "U.S." citizens, you can't sit back and rely on others to act in the best interests of your own community.

Having said that, sure technology comes at a price, and there are no regulations that would prevent the tower from being built there. I dont think these should be built anywhere near where ANYONE lives, especially in areas where there are inclined to be a large number of young children. But I'm not sure if thats always practical. These monstrosities have to be placed somewhere. I personally think there should (and eventually will) be regulations regarding how close these things can be to a residential area.

"the state has been "indifferent" about the idea of building a tower on farmland across the street from Tivoli that the University of Maryland owns."

Disgusting...

Show me studies that prove cell phone towers cause cancer, and I might believe you. Every respected study I've found shows otherwise..

I'd like to see your reaction to a cell tower right across the street from your homes. I wonder if you'd be so cavalier about one going up.

Carebear1970, I have a question for you. Why carebear? Care Bears are happy and smiling. Oh wait! You're Grumpy Bear! Never mind the question.
