Hello!

My husband got a new job based out of Upper Marlboro at the same time as our lease is running out on our rental here in Woodbridge. VA. We have a child in pre-K and one who is entering 4th grade, so we definitely have an eye on schools as we look for a new place to live, and have heard good things about the schools in Crofton. It seems to be a relatively short commute to Upper Marlboro as well. We relocated from New England last year where we lived in small towns with a sense of community and plenty of places for kids to play. We'd like to find a town with a community feel to it, if possible, with good schools and some parks. Do any of you know anything about Crofton? Or is there another community you'd recommend with good schools and a family feel with a "reasonable" (45 minute or less) commute to Upper Marlboro? Our househunting budget tops out at $550, which we know is another challenge, but we are willing to rent until we find something we can afford.

Thanks very much for your help!

Everything I have heard or read about Crofton suggests it is the best choice for someone with your situation. (I knew a couple of people working in Woodlawn at SSA who lived in Crofton and were starting a family.)

You might check this resource for parks: http://www.momsclubofcrofton.org/parks.html

If you mean $550,000 to buy a house, you shouldn't have a problem.

Shoot, yes, I did mean $550,000. Thank you goldenage1. Actually, it's great to see that there's a Moms Club in Crofton...I was part of one in our NH days and it's a good way to meet people when you are new. Thanks again.
