A retail wasteland to a county executive on the front cover of Shopping Centers Today. From a county executive convicted of bribery to one heading up a national organization of county executives. Quite the turnaround, though still a long way to go.

Quote:
Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker III (D) has been elected to serve as the board president for the County Executives of America.
“I’m really excited about the next two years of heading up this organization,” Baker said. “This is a great way to promote Prince George’s County and raise our profile on a national stage.”
Baker said his priorities as president of the Washington D.C.-based nonprofit include advocating for county governments at the national level, adding that the majority of people in the U.S. live within county jurisdictions.

Sheer genius given the fact all states are comprised of counties or parishes. Why, even cities are within county lines.
The only place in the US this is true is within the District of Columbia.

Baltimore City is not within Baltimore county. I learned that just this year. It is its own jurisdiction. I imagine other cities exist like this in the US. Not sure how many though.
