Probably need a local group that has a solid live music rotation/schedule. How about Rams Head? Local with a big live music operation.

Some more media releases for Iron Rooster. This article says the space is 6,000 sqft. To me, Kapnos Taverna seemed a little more cozy than 6000 sqft. At least the seating area was. Maybe the decor masked the true size of it all.

Restaurant Broker & Developers recently facilitated a major leasing deal for a 6,000 sq.ft restaurant space within The Hotel at University of Maryland’s Conference Center. The space has been leased to Iron Rooster, a Maryland-based restaurant renowned for its unique offerings and warm hospitality.

Wojahn would apparently be eligible for parole after 7.5 years.

Best Buy has recently closed its doors in College Park. I expected it, considering the store lacked foot traffic. I will miss the convenience though.

No remodeling going on at the Hotel for the Iron Rooster. I think we can surmise that it will not be coming.

Damn. i was just about to go up there and get an Apple laptop.

One store comes to mind to replace it. MicroCenter. LOVE that store. BestBuy's location is perfect. Right off the Beltway and close to UofMD. Techie central.

This article was just a month ago.

Quote:
The popular Maryland restaurant chain Iron Rooster is opening in College Park.

Located inside the Hotel at the University of Maryland, the 6,000-square-foot restaurant will be the fifth for Iron Rooster, joining locations in Annapolis and Baltimore

If plans changed that quick, something drastic must have happened. Not that Iron Rooster was advertising the opening itself anyway.

It's not on the hotel website either. The only articles that appear are local bloggers. I would assume they were never coming to College Park.

The Iron Rooster did sign a lease many months ago to open in the Univ of MD Hotel. Project may not be dead yet.

In other news, in the mid-town area the Campus Village Shopping Center and Town Hall Bar and Liquor will be closing down by the end of October to make way for a student housing project that has not yet been presented to the County Planning Board. Also the College Park Grill in the Cambria Hotel closed on August 26th after about 7 years in business,

So businesses are leaving at the same time as 3 new student apartment buildings just opened, with 2 others to open in 2024.
And we likely have 5 more large apartment projects that will begin construction in the Baltimore Avenue corridor next year.
