The historic bits of NoVa are very cool. Towns and cities of varying sizes - Alexandria, Middleburg, Occoquan, etc. - are definitely worth a stop if not an overnight. Areas built up more recently? Meh. Why go to Arlington when we have Bethesda? Why go to Annandale when we have Rockville? Why go to Tysons when we have...jk, we don't have anything close to the clusterfudge that is Tysons, thankfully.

I remember pre-Woodrow Wilson Bridge, pre-beltway days, pre-Dulles, pre-Reston, you drove through DC to get to Maryland. Tysons Corner was a single stop light intersecting Rt 123 and the next traffic light was in Leesburg; Route 7 was a two lane road. I bailed about 10 years ago. It all got to be too much.

I’ll give you those first two. But you seriously missing out on food, culture, entertainment and scenery.

That hasn’t been the case since the late 60’s

Arundel Mills isn’t too far off. Columbia town Center and Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg are getting there as well.

That because P.G. County and Southern MD counties have relatively few quality jobs, so huge numbers of their residents have to commute ungodly distances daily to NoVA to work, which has horrible environmental consequences, as well as reducing the quality time commuters have left to spend with their families.

P.G. County has basically only the SAME few major employers (Federal agencies) today, that were already there 70 years ago when I was born --while its population has increased by 400 % over that period. (And I doubt it will be picked for the new FBI headquarters). National Harbor jobs I would assume are low-paying.

I always assume the majority of those are Uber and delivery drivers. It's almost a cliche to see a mid-sized sedan with Maryland or DC plates speeding through little side streets as suggested by their GPS to save 30 seconds.

I usually go to Dulles or Reagan National when flying out or picking up someone at the airport.

BWI has Spirit though.

No, it really wasn't. Lots of reasons but mostly because the employees living in Virginia wouldn't have accepted it.
