Hello everyone,

My husband and I currently live in the Palisades but would like to move further west to escape the confines of the city. We're looking at houses in Darnestown, more specifically near the Darnestown elementary school and the center of town. Driving around the area, we got the impression that it is quite upscale and safe, but that it might be in slight decline. Is that so?

We noticed that some seedy looking parts of Germantown are less than 10 minutes north. Do they pose a problem for Darnestown? Are they expanding south, or does the state park act as sort of a natural barrier to protect Darnestown?

Overall, do you think property values will continue to rise in Darnestown and safety will be maintained, or is it an area prone to encroachment by Germantown or other seedy development?

The German(town)s are coming! The German(town)s are coming! I can't even imagine what your concern is. Darnestown doesn't have any development of note so I think it's safe to say "seedy development" isn't going to occur. Are you asking if the unwashed Germantowners are going to start shopping at Darnestown's Harris Teeter, or something? You're going to be disturbed to hear that some in south Germantown already do...bunch of gross Model 3 owners trying to fit in with the Darnestown Model S crowd. Yuck.
