Has anyone else recently received an invalid computer-generated DC Tax Notice in their mailbox?
I paid my taxes again several months back (and have records of the cancelled check to prove it), after the DC tax office somehow "misplaced" my original check.
Just this evening I received another Tax Notice, which somehow shows $0.00 previously paid toward my last years taxes, threatening liens and other nasty litigation if I failed to pay. The new notice also includes hundred of dollars in interest and penalties on outstanding taxes which I had already previously paid.
What in the world is going on with the DC Tax Office?
Let's hope so. I would have though they'd have cleaned up the DC Tax & Revenue Office after that $50 Million scandal a few years back.
