It involved what were then called yuppies - they were not yet called hipsters or transplants. It was called "St Elmo's Fire". It was a silly little thing, but when you were 20something and living in Jacksonville Fl, it made DC seem like Paris.

I think yuppies are still called yuppies. Hipsters are a different breed more interested in alternative culture. Transplants are just people who move from somewhere else, including all the blacks from the south, Latinos, etc...

On CD the terms are often used interchangeably. Or "yuppies" is reserved for the seriously rich.
