Just so that people have the whole picture: The UberX fares have only been dropped temporarily; specifically from Jan 30th-Feb 13th. Two Weeks basically.

Also during that time, an UberX driver is guaranteed a certain hourly rate (as a floor) if they 1) accept 90% of fares assigned, 2) average 1 trip per hour during hours worked and 3) are online for 50 minutes of the qualifying hour.

$26/hr - Fri & Sat (5pm-3am)
$20/hr - Daily (6am-5pm), Sun-Thu (5pm-Midnight)
$16/hr - (Midnight-6am), Sat-Sun (3-6am)

I can't tell if that guaranteed hourly rate is prior to the Uber 20% cut or not. So the actual guarantee may be lower.

Uber is the cyber-gentrification of the cab industry.

I don't care, I DON'T Care, I DON'T CARE!!!!!

If you don't like being an Uber driver, leave!

Otherwise, I love Uber! Same way that I love my iPhone and sneakers and all those other things that are made by suicidal Chinese workers - there's only so much caring I can do, and it really stops at family and friends.

What are the rates for Lyft and the other ridesharing apps? You can drive for both Uber and Lyft.

How numerous are uber cars in northern VA now, say places like Clifton and Vienna?

If you don't like working for uber, quit.

I honestly don't give a rats behind about anything other than the fact that an uber ride is much cheaper than a taxi ride. Why would I, as a consumer, voluntarily pay more for a service because you don't like management?

Or just take some time off until the lowered rates go back up. Only 9 days left now.

It's business.

Some hot dog carts are cheaper than others or offer better lunch combo deals. I remember who those guys are.
I always liked the Egyptian guy down by GWU.
