495 is the best way most of the time. I do modify the end of the route to B at times. I get off a 50 east and take 410 to 201 north to get there. I do that because there's often bad traffic from the exit for 450 to the exit for 95.

I just reviewed my post and caught my errror. Should be "at 50 West".
Both ways depends on the current traffic situation at that time. If 495 from 201 and beyond is not to bad then it's better to just take the Beltway. Google maps traffic will help.
If the Beltway is backed up from 201 to 50, or vice versa, then that suggested route is sometimes better. It happened to me a couple of weeks ago when I hit traffic on 495 North at exit 20 (rt. 450). I was kicking myself for not taking 410 as I crawled to the same exit you would use (exit for 201). That was in the evening rush. The other way looked just as bad. Every choice depends on the current traffic situation.
BTW, 410 is not always a better route. Another alternative is similar: exit at 50 west, then 410 north (right). At the light where 410 seems to end, but you have to turn left to continue on 410 (I believe that is Riverdale rd) instead turn right. A short distance up, make a left on Auburn. Take it to the end and turn left on Good Luck Rd. Then right on 201 to your destination.
However, you will be going against traffic for the most part. Most traffic is coming into Virginia, not Maryland.
