Hello
Our family plan to visit DC too. Someone advise us to take the hotel in Springfield / VA, let our car in the hotel and then take the train to go to DC. Do you think it do not take much of time to get into DC and it helps to save pretty $$$ ?
Thank you for your advices.

It's about a 45 minute train ride from Springfield to DC. Is that quick enough for you? I don't know.
Washington is a large city with extremely congested traffic. On a weekday, do not count on parking at a metrorail station, as many station parking lots fill up completely very early. If your hotel is not near a metro station, it may offer a shuttle ride to one nearby. Parking is generally much easier on weekends and holidays.
