I know it's a long shot but I'm asking if anyone here has had an experience moving from Atlanta to the DC area in the past year. I'm looking for recommendations for full service movers (or warnings to stay away from certain ones.)

Also, if you've used a transport company to move a car, I'd appreciate your comments. Thanks!

I have. I'm actually a DC native, lived in Atl from 2008 thru 2014.

In recent years Atl has become a lot like the DMV, but there are a few differences. There are more public transport options, Metrorail (which offers door to door service), Metrobus, Commuter rail, Amtrak, Uber etc.

This town is a major business center like Atl but for different fields. Policy, Government, Law, and Defense are your major employers here, along with Bio defense in nearby MD.

This is a rather atypical city, expect to find a lot of trends minded people here. DC is about who you know and can be as status driven as, or more than, LA or NYC.

Cost of living is high, twice as much as metro Atl. But, you pay for convenience. Traffic is just as bad as Atlanta or worse. This city is however awesome in the spring with the various festivals going on.

And unlike Atl, if you're that bored with DC, 40 bucks or a quick drive north will land you in Baltimore, Philly, Jersey, or NY.

Hopefully you have gainful employment before you move to DC, but job prospects are high here, just have a phenomenal resume and tap into whatever networks you may have here. And good luck.

DC smokes Atlanta in every way. They are not in the same league. Its almost unfair to compare the two.

I'm surprised it took you 6 years to return. I imagine I would of returned after 6 months.

I appreciate the replies but the question is about moving company referrals.
