Thanks for your helpful replies! If any of you currently have a high school student in your life, or know someone who does, who can really give me a pulse on that angle (school quality, good things for them to do, etc.) , I would greatly appreciate hearing back! Thanks again!

I have a son starting his senior year at Olympia High School.

He's been in the Olympia SD since 2nd grade and I have been very happy with it.

As for things to do...hmmm...that's a good question. Ya know I don't really know what high schoolers do

My son

I bet you're a Peak Oil denier, and probably a global warming denier as well. Those "silly energy scams" represent a sustainable future that right-wingers are terrified of because they think it's perpetually the year 1850. You folks will of course take such things for granted as "market driven" when you finally realize how necessary they are.

Olympia gets about 15 inches more per year than Seattle. And further west, places like Aberdeen and Hoquiam get twice as much rain as Seattle.
East Olympia is less expensive, safe, but still has good schools. Olympia's west side is nicer, but pricier.
The graphs on this site show Olympia to be notably more cloudy than Portland and slightly more so than Seattle. The price one pays for all that greenery is steep in terms of outdoor comfort, but it's a nice looking place when the sun's out. I was there a few days ago and was impressed by the views of the sound and the capitol.
