I am hoping someone can help me. We are looking to move to Oak Harbor but wasn't sure about the public schools. I know some friends from Anacortes but they turn there nose at Oak Harbor schools and really can't find to much info on the Internet. I found some old reviews but nothing recent. Would love to hear from someone that actually has kids in school. Any info would be great! Thanks so much.

I went to the oak harbor schools. Good times lots of drugs and boose from middle school on but to be fair all the schools in the region are like that. Big military recruiting presence as well, but im guessing your in the military so that probably doesn't bother you.

I had fun and I'm sure your kids will too.

Oak Harbor does have the highest crime rate on the island or in that area, the median income is much lower and poverty rate far higher than Anacortes, so I can see why you get that reaction. Sorry I am not familiar with the schools but typically, even within the affluent areas east of Seattle, the higher income areas have the best schools. With statewide budget issues, well educated parents contribute to provide a better learning environment, equipment, supplies and even programs that the school could not otherwise afford.
