I recently moved to Bothell, and I have noticed fireworks for sale everywhere. I assume this means they are legal. I would love to buy some and set them off with my kids, but we live in an apartment complex and don't have anywhere to set them off. Where would be a good place to set them off on the fourth? Preferably in or around Bothell, but anywhere in Seattle would do?

Thanks

It's not necessarily true; fireworks can and often are sold in places where you cannot set them off legally.

To get a rundown of what laws apply where, go here --> http://www.wsp.wa.gov/fire/docs/fire...strictions.pdf and scroll down to the appropriate county (i.e., King and/or Snohomish).

Essentially, anywhere in unincorporated King County. But please be fire safe, and respect the LIMITED hours that they are legal. In many areas it is a war zone for a few hours each year. The fourth is on Monday so most people need to work the next day and it is very tough on pets any day.

A better option would be to break the cycle and teach your kids to go to a public show. IMO.

Yes!!! We also have many service vets who have PTSD which is triggered by fireworks.

There are many wonderful fireworks displays. Why not go to them?

By that statewide chart that amaiunmei provided, you can see that many cities in the state ban the sales and/or discharge of fireworks completely. But as shown, in Bothell, you can legally discharge Class C fireworks on July 4th only from the hours of 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Make sure you're inside the Bothell city limits or at least check the chart if you're not. For example, if you are inside Woodinville, Kenmore, or Lake Forest Park for instance, they all ban both the sale and discharge of fireworks completely so you won't even see a stand selling fireworks in those cities.

Please read all the information on this page so you are aware how the city of Bothell regulates fireworks:

Bothell Fireworks Regulations

eta: I didn't want to editorialize so I won't tell you "don't do it." I understand how excited kids get during the 4th for even as a little girl, I remember how I looked forward to dad putting on a small show in the backyard on the 4th ...how I loved waving a sparkler around under the watchful eye of mom. So if you have to shoot off some Class C fireworks (safe and sane only, i.e. fountains, sparklers, novelty items, smoke items, wheels & spinners, etc.) make sure you do so safely and responsibly. Have sand and water on hand. Make sure you're away from anything that can catch fire. And please nothing explosive or illegal. Have a fun 4th! ~amanda

I volunteered at an animal shelter. 4th of July and the days leading up to it is when we took in the highest numbers of terrified, injured and lost animals. I have hated personal fireworks with their relentless noise ever since.
