We are a yound couple and hubby has an opportunity to work for Microsoft in Redmond.
We will be new to the area and were wondering about any suggestions anyone has of where to find nice apartments in safe areas nearby.
Where should we start our search?
What areas should we search in?
We will have a car for transportation. Any nearby/close-by towns to Redmond, conveniently and centrally located to Microsoft Offices in Redmond (if not in Redmond) would be great.
Of course, Seattle will be too far and perhaps more expensive.
Budgeting up to $2000-$2500/month

Please advise and thanks.

Many of our neighbors here in Sammamish work at Microsoft, and there are a few newer apartment buildings here now. One in particular is easy walking distance to a grocery store, restaurants and may other services just about next door. Also, just a block to the library and YMCA with swim center, and park. It's less than 5 miles to the Microsoft Campus, and rent is right in your budget range.

Redmond itself has many huge newer apartments too, also very walkable, but with the traffic congestion there could probably take longer to get to work than Sammamish.

Great.
Any other suggestions?
We stayed at the Hyatt House Seattle/Redmond this past Summer and it was great with everything walking distance, even to the town center.

For comparisons, if anyone can provide additional suggestions, that'd be great.

Many thanks.

Microsoft has many locations in the Greater Seattle area. In general:
Find a location near a Microsoft commuter van/bus stop?
Find a location near a SoundTransit-Metro bus/Link stop.
Carpool/Vanpool (GoRedmond.com).

So what's wrong with the multitude of apartments in Redmond flats (lower Redmond) (Hyatt House and surrounding apartment buildings)? Personally, we are seniors and like the flats for high walk score and variation of walk routes. My suggestion is that you find a place where it's easy to walk to the grocery/Fred Meyer/Target/HomeDepot, using a granny cart or backpack.

Nice, Redmond Townside Flats. Opposite end of Redmond to Hyatt House. High walk score, safe, convenient. Bus#250 on corner which gets you to transit center/other stops where you transfer to other routes/modes.

Zillow Rents, Apartments.com, etc.

YMMV

OP, you can google "Property management companies" + your target community. So: Redmond, perhaps Kirkland, and possibly Issaquah, following the above recommendations. It's also good advice to check with the employer, to find out where their own transit services go (they must have a map they could send you a link to). That will help guide you as well, as to where to locate.

Personally I'd choose to live in the downtown Redmond or Overlake (Esterra Park) area. Why rent in a totally different community than you're working in? It's not gonna be worth the hassle factor with commuting and all that jazz.

Just pick any new-build apartment building in Redmond and plug and play. You'll be fine.

Now if you were buying, different story. Gotta get a feel for where you want to be. But with renting, just choose Redmond. Everywhere on the Eastside is very safe.
