My family is moving back to Washington. I will only move to Olympia or Seattle. We have settled on Olympia but my husband may have to commute to Vancouver, WA. How many hours drive is that? An hour and 30 or closer to 2 each way? Crazy I know, but we'd do "anything" to be back in the PNW

Uggg, I really want to make this work, but after looking around the website it seems incredibly unrealistic. Who wants to drive that much?!! Or pay that much for gas?!! Or buy a new car every few years because he drove it into the ground, lol!

It would be a pretty long drive, probably around 1.5-2 hrs each way, but the good news is that he wouldnt have to sit in traffic as the roads would probably be wide open going both directions. I would try typing it into mapquest and see what it says.

Whatever you want from Seattle, you can get from Portland and not have to pay sales tax - not certain why you wouldn't want to live near Vancouver if that's where the job is.

With the economy as it is, probably better to take whatever job you can get...

He already has a job but is looking to relocate back to WA in the same company. We just moved out of Vancouver WA. I hate Oregon, and don't like the Portland vibe. I think Portland schools (where we could afford to live) are garbage, I could go on and on as to why I don't like Oregon and Portland and why I don't like Vancouver. We are moving back because I miss the PNW and family is there in Seattle and Vancouver. It just seems like most of the cities in Western WA are smaller or crappier (in my opinion only) and I would only care to live in Olympia or Seattle. I've live in various cities thoughout the PNW my whole life so I do know what I like and what I don't. I just wish I could have it all exactely the way I wanted it : )

The mileage is 105 miles. At 70 mph you're looking at 1.5 hours. I love math!

I'm not suggesting you *live* in Oregon and work in Washington, that would be nuts - but that you can do shopping in Portland similar to Seattle.

I do that commute a few times per week, I figure on 2 hrs door to door. (volunteer / intern at Oly non-profit)

I would move to Camas or 'the gorge'

I go east 2 days / week also (The Dalles).

White Slamon or Trout lake is worth the drive for good school.

I-5 is not a road I would expect an average of 70 mph on many days... in fact there are more than a few days where 40 would be good. I would never agree to that commute!
