Interestingly enough it's in the 50s and raining where I live right now, and my window is open. I just prefer cool, wet, and cloudy over warm and sunny. Does that mean I abhor sunny weather? Of course not, I do enjoy it from time to time. I think I would be satisfied with 650 hours worth of sunshine.

I have difficulty comprehending how anyone could love Miami or Phoenix, but that doesn't mean there are folks who don't. Everyone has their own preferences.

I could live without summer since it's my least favorite season. If I were in New Zealand, I would be content with the marginal summers in Invercargil or the non-summers in CI.

Again, this is not to say I hate anything that has to do with sunshine or warmth. I certainly do enjoy a sunny, mild summer day. But if I had to choose between a climate with months and months of sunny/hot/warm weather and a place like CI, it would be CI.
I see... but do you dress accordingly? Don't tell me you wear shorts and t-shirts when it's 50 F and raining!

Do you actually go outside at all? For me the saving grace of a cold, cloudy climate would be that I wouldn't feel bad about being a couch potato.

Nope. I usually wear pants and a sweatshirt or rain jacket. I've mentioned other times that I prefer having to dress warm during the cooler months and be outside than dress lightly and be outside during the summer. I can be comfortable wearing a sweatshirt or jacket when it's 40 F, but if I'm wearing shorts and a t shirt when it's 90 F, I'll still be uncomfortable despite dressing lightly.

I'm only outside for maybe fifteen minutes on an average day (walking from my car to wherever I'm going, getting the mail, taking the dog out, etc.). But I often go on hikes and play tennis during the spring and fall. During the winter I chop and collect wood which keeps me outside for a good while.

Ironically I'm outside most during my least favorite season. I work at a waterpark during the summer and get to work in the intense sun, heat, and humidity all season. So my preference for cooler weather has some merit (not that I need an excuse).

Lol, I had a brain condition that made me sensitive to the cold. I think I slept half of my 20's away in western PA AKA Darktown. I used to have to sit in front of a light box every morning for a half an hour from Nov-April just to energize myself. No more of that now!
