Is it the strength of the wind that's dragging in the warm air then? We get warm (20C or so), windy October days when the warmth is because of the strong southerly wind not despite it, though I don't know if the same applies to spring.

Our weather today is very different to yours. At 11:45 we're currently at our daily low of 5.6C and we're getting some needed rain before the foliage starts soaking it all up.

Yeah southerly winds are responsible for the mild weather. Highs expected to reach the 80s in the south (first time?) and up to 70 F in NYC.
