We didn't go below 27C one night a few years ago.

I felt sorry for those without ACs.

There could be quite a difference - in Kasghar china the solar midnight range from 02:50-03:20! Thus the clock midnight is actually 20:40-21:10 solar wise, quite a difference especially for summer!
Clock midnight, 00:00.

I think the highest minimum in Malta is 33C... I recorded a minimum of 29C in August & that was unpleasant enough...

35.6°C? Wtf man?

I've got 30.9°C here.

Mildura climate, averages and extreme weather records

By the way, Mildura summers are great. Love the averages, low rainfall and sun.

It's hot here in South Texas, but not ever near 100F.
Summer nights are in mid 80's or low 90's. Usually very humid 80-100%.
A/C must be running, sadly...

So far the highest minimum here in San Diego was 78F, that happened just last week and also twice in Sept. 1984. May that record remain unbroken, but another surge of heat is expected in a few days.

Maybe the BOM site has more years of data and weather is only using 1981-2010. Hmm.

We had a couple 28°C lows a month ago, but the highs were around 33°C (in fact one of the days the high was tied at 10 pm), so it didn't heat up too much indoors and made sleeping totally manageable without AC (though with the aid of a fan). Had the highs been near 40°C, I think I would have been miserable.

The high temp matters as much as the low imo. Imo, it would most likely tougher to find sleep on a 40/15°C day that it would on a 30/20°C one despite the cooler low, especially if you go to bed early, as the temp won't be anywhere near the low in the evening if the diurnal range is that large. Plus indoors will have stored some of that daytime heat.
