Does anyone else tend to wear more clothing as they get older ?

Or maybe it's just living in Italy and seeing everyone dressed as if they were in Denmark that makes me unconsciously choose the warmer option, whereas any trip to France looks like everyone wants to keep on dressing smart with a light sweater and a scarf even during nasty cold snaps.

Depends on the current temperature, forecast maximum temperature and whether it is wet or dry (3 parts):

Part 1: Forecast maximum temperature 16°C (60°F) or higher: Shorts, t-shirt and crocks, go to part 3
15°C (59°F) or lower: Long trousers, long sleeved shirt, trainers and socks, go to part 2

Part 2: Current temperature 5°C (42°F) or lower: coat, hat, scarf and gloves
6-10°C (42-51°F): coat
10-15°C (51-59°F): jacket
If I'm wearing a coat, clothing is finished otherwise go to part 3

Part 3: Wet = raincoat, dry = clothing is finished

The reason I use forecast maximum temperature as opposed to anything else for part 1 is because I leave home in the morning and come back in the afternoon. If I was going out when temperatures are falling I would take the necessary clothes for lower temperatures. This is why it annoys me when temperatures fall through the day, as I have to carry clothes with me.

If I am in a low mood, clothing is more decided by whether it is sunny or cloudy, as I am more sensitive to extremes of temperature

Example: It is 5.9°C right now. Because of part 1, Iam currently wearing a long sleeved shirt, long trousers and socks. If I was going out I would put on a coat and trainers, and take a hat, scarf and gloves with me for when it is colder later (part 2). Part 3 is not needed because it is dry.

So how exactly do you dress (how many layers and what type of clothes) for...

30F (-1C)
Fall jacket or sweatshirt over a normal shirt. Pants and shoes. If I'm out longer, add a warm long-sleeve shirt, hat, thin gloves, and boots.

20F (-7C)
Winter coat over a normal shirt, hat and gloves. Pants and shoes. If out longer, add a warm long-sleeve shirt, thicker gloves, and boots.

10F (-12C)
Winter coat over a normal shirt, hat and thicker gloves. Pants and shoes. If I'm out longer, add a warm long-sleeve shirt or two and warm socks.

0F (-18C)
Winter coat over a warm shirt or sweatshirt, hood, hat and 2 layers of gloves. 2 layers on my legs and boots with warm socks. If longer, add another warm shirt or two, snow pants, and snow boots

-20F (-29C)
Winter coat with 2-3 warm layers underneath. Snow pants over pants. Snow boots. Hat and 2 layers of gloves, hands in my pockets as much as possible. Scarf or mask over my face. If longer, go inside.

-40F (also -40C!)
Put on everything I can, go outside for a minute, and say I survived -40. Then stay inside under a blanket the rest of the day.
I live in Wisconsin, USA. This is for walking around for 15-30 minutes. If I'm sitting still for a few hours I'll dress like it's 20-30 degrees colder, if I'm exercising dress 20-30 degrees warmer.
