To me, that's an indicator it's warm enough; outside air is close to room temperature, windows can be open and outdoor activities more pleasant.
We turned ours off April 24. Last year around April 1 but it had to go back a few times or let the house go to down to uncomfortably cold (below 60°F). This spring is less variable.
We have no date when the heating is turned on or off. It works on a thermostat and in our cold house whenever the temperature drops below a certain level the heating comes on to whatever amount is required to get it right again. If it is cold weather in July, the heating will still come on if necessary.
Ours has been off for good since like March, it tends to be warm in here even without the heat so even in February it had to be turned off half of the time because it felt like July inside.
When it feels like an 80+ degree Summer night inside is when the use starts winding down, it's not needed past March (barely past February actually).

Same here for the place I'm living in at the moment. The furnace is running very little if at all this time of year -- maybe the last time was a week or two ago.
Heat hasn't been turned off here yet.. not when we have days that are in the 50s and lows in the 40s... at this rate we'll still be having our heat on in July
My husband is still loading the furnace with wood mornign and night.
